Beyonce Lemonade DietThe pop singing sensation turned actress, Beyonce Knowles, accepted that she successfully reduced 20lbs in just 10 days with her famous lemonade diet, for her role as Deena Jones in the mega hit movie Dreamgirls.

The actress appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show where she spoke about her role in the movie. She says that while she had to play the role of Deena Jones, which was based on Diana Ross’s character, and since there was a wide age difference between both of them, she had to lose weight immediately in order to fin-in the role. About her role in the movie, Beyonce says:

“Normally they’d change your makeup or your clothes but I wanted to go the extra mile,” She continued with “Back in the sixties, models like Twiggy were popular and I knew Deena would have been thin then, so even though I really love eating, it was necessary to lose weight really fast because we shot Deena at 16 and Deena at 36 two weeks apart.”

  • Lemon or lime juice – 2 Tbsp
  • Natural maple syrup – 2 Tbsp
  • Cayenne pepper or red pepper – 1/10 Tsp or to taste
  • Luke warm or hot water

Combine the lemon juice, maple syrup and the cayenne pepper in a glass (10 oz) and pour the water. Cold water can also be used instead of the hot water. However, make sure the lemons used to prepare the lemonade are not canned or frozen.

Beyonce said that she made variations to her lemonade diet and did not depend only on the liquid to get a perfect well toned body. “I was cranky, people were eating Krispy Kreme Doughnuts around me.”

Now Beyonce regularly goes to the gym five days a week to maintain her perfect and slim body. The reason is, her Beyonce lemonade diet was greatly criticized by many health experts. They say that the diet sheds off the weight easily. However, the long term effects on the health, particularly on the digestive system, of the person on this diet are not very positive.
