Actress – and GOOP.com founder – Gwyneth Paltrow has always been skinny, but her new workout regimen, dubbed the Gwyneth Paltrow workout, has reshaped her body.
Self-described as having a dumpy bottom, Paltrow initially enlisted the help of celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson to transform her body. Now approaching her 40s, she boasts shapely, lean curves and no longer looks “dumpy” – and she showcased her new physique in Self Magazine.
She also pairs up her workouts with antioxidant-packed meals, including turkey kale soup, lemon-marinated chicken and blueberry-infused protein shakes. Together, the combination has turned Paltrow from a skinny starlet into a petite, shapely Hollywood star.
What is Her Fitness Secret to Her Having That Amazing Body?
Gwyneth Paltrow’s fitness secret isn’t a super-complex exercise regimen – it’s her personal trainer, Tracy Anderson, the trainer behind the bodies of Madonna and Jennifer Lopez.
Tracy Anderson is known for her lengthy but challenging toning workouts, which can range from 90 minutes to hours of heart-pumping action. Paltrow takes it easy, however – in preparation for Iron Man 2, she underwent a daily 90 minute workout.
The Gwyneth Paltrow workout, which was previously featured on Oprah, focuses on toning the body by using light weights – 3 pound weights at the maximum – followed by high repetitions and dance-inspired moves, drawn from Anderson’s previous career as a professional dancer. Of course, Paltrow also fits in a 40-minute cardio workout to keep her in high fat-burning mode.
“Truly is a miracle. Never did I imagine that in my 30′s, after two children, I would be able to change my body to the degree to which I have. Tracy’s method works! All you have to do is put the time in and you will see results you never thought possible” – Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow Diet Plan and Tips
To stay slim all year round, the actress also fuels her grueling workouts with raw, organic food, such as raw almonds and coconut water. Pasta or heavy bread is not included in her diet – she keeps it simple, with a wide variety of vegetables, fruits and nuts to keep her energy levels sustained throughout the day. As a busy actress and mom, Paltrow is very busy and needs as much energy as she can get (naturally).
The Iron Man 2 star is also a big fan of detoxing, an eating method used to remove digestive toxins from the body, which can reportedly alleviate numerous health ailments. Though she openly admits she detoxes to lose a few “holiday” pounds, she also doesn’t prescribe to liquid-only fasts – she simply cuts out the foods that supposedly interfere with the detoxification process. This includes the obvious foods, such as fried or sugary food, but also includes soy products, potatoes, all condiments and even caffeinated beverages.
The actress has also been on the Master Cleanse diet, a liquid-only fast first popularized by singer-actress Beyonce Knowles.
To prepare for events, she opts for a different method, however. To prepare for Iron Man 2, she followed a weekly prep diet designed by trainer Tracy Anderson, designed to slim down and firm up her body. The diet consisted of green tea, kale juice, and lean servings of chicken, turkey and tortilla wraps. She kept beverages high on her agenda – she often savored Anderson’s “Clean Shake” during the morning, which consisted of blueberries, almond milk, and the powdered supplement of her choice.
Gwyneth Paltrow Workout Routines
Want to work out just like Paltrow? Here’s the low down on the real Gwyneth Paltrow workout – and how you too can get thin and firm with her routine:
Workout #1: Got a Mp3 player? Good. Make a 20 minute playlist containing your favorite, heart-pumping songs. Perform a different cardio workout during each song. For example, during song 1, you can jump rope, and when the next song comes up, switch to sprinting on the treadmill. Trainer Tracy Anderson claims this prevents bulking up of the muscles, leading to a tighter, firmer core.
Workout #2: Once that workout is out of the way, move on to toning. First, hold your arms out and rotate them quickly to tone the arms. Do this for 100 repetitions. Next, bring one arm across your chest, keeping the arm straight, for 100 repetitions. Repeat for the other side. Now to weights. Holding a 3 pound weight with both hands, bring both arms behind your head and slowly lift your forearms up, so that both arms are completely straight. Again, repeat this for 100 repetitions. End with plies–stand straight with your feet, shoulder-width apart, and slow bend the knees. Repeat for 100 repetitions.
To amp up the Gwyneth Paltrow workout, add 10 minutes of cardio every week – but don’t go too fast. Stop when you reach 60 minutes of heart-pumping cardio.
